NUNUKAN (Satgas) Border Security Unit (Pamtas) Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Pos Tembalang thwarted an attempt to smuggle a Toyota Land Cruiser VX 4WD car from Malaysia.

This effort was made based on information from the public who suspected that a metalic gray car had crossed the Tulin Onsoi and Sebuku sub-districts.

"Our personnel received reports from the public regarding the presence of suspicious vehicles in the Sebuku District area. Following up on this information, we immediately carried out a sweep of vehicles at the Tembalang Post," said Dansatgas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad, Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, Monday, November 18.

During the sweep, the Task Force team stopped and checked the Toyota Land Cruiser VX 4WD vehicle with the driver with the initials RES (39 years) and YT (39) passengers.

"After a thorough inspection, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the frame number and the car engine number and the STNK document that was brought," he said.

Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra emphasized that this success was part of the main task of the unit in securing border areas, including preventing the smuggling of illegal goods.

"This case is clear evidence that the Pamtas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Task Force is always ready to maintain sovereignty and protect Indonesia's borders, especially in the North Kalimantan region, and evidence has been handed over to Nunukan Customs through the Head of Nunukan Customs," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Head of Nunukan Customs and Excise, Danang, appreciated this success.

"We express our gratitude and highest appreciation to the team from the Pamtas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Task Force for their hard work in thwarting the smuggling of this vehicle," said Danang.

"Currently, the vehicle as evidence along with the driver and passengers have been handed over by the Dansatgas Pamtas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad to the Nunukan Customs and Excise, this success is expected to be a firm warning for those who try to carry out illegal activities in the border area," he said.
