Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Says 80 Percent Of The 8.8 Million Judol Connoisseurs Are Lower Communities

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan said, so far there have been 8.8 million residents involved in online gambling activities.

"From online gambling data from economic intelligence in 2024, there are 8.8 million players, of which 80 percent are the lower class and target young people," Budi said when met at the office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 14.

This finding also became Budi Gunawan's special concern so that his party was committed to eradicating online gambling activities by forming an Online Judi Decree.

Dec Judi Online is one of seven desks formed to accelerate President Prabowo Subianto's work program in the first 100 days of his tenure. Budi Gunawan's Online Judi Decree was led directly by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"In eradicating online gambling, there are indeed several targets targeted. There are actors, activities and infrastructure including payment systems," he said.

These three elements are the main targets of Desk Judi Online in uncovering each case. To date, Dec Judi Online has produced various findings of major cases a few days after it was formed.

One of them is the disclosure of online gambling cases that were within the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi) some time ago. It is recorded that Polda Metro Jaya has named 18 suspects consisting of civilians and unscrupulous employees of the Ministry of Communication and Trade.

Therefore, Budi believes that the presence of Dec Judi Online in the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs can help the government in eradicating online gambling activities in the community.
