UI Suspended His Doctoral Degree, Bahlil Lahadalia: My Judicium Is December 2024

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia responded to the news of the suspension of his doctorate by the University of Indonesia (UI). Bahlil admitted that he did not know the contents of the letter issued by the UI Board of Trustees (MWA) regarding the suspension of the graduation of his doctoral program, aka his doctoral degree.

"I don't know the contents yet, I don't know the contents yet," said Bahlil at the Parliament complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 13.

The general chairman of Golkar claimed that so far he had just received a recommendation letter from UI. However, he said, the contents of the letter were not the decision to postpone his graduation from the doctoral program of the Stratejik and Global Study School (SKSG).

Moreover, said Bahlil, he had not yet passed the doctoral program because he had to follow the judicial procession, which was scheduled for December 2024.

"The recommendation may have been obtained. There what I understand is not that it was suspended, but indeed my graduation should have been in December," he explained.

Bahlil said that the judicial system could only be followed after the revision of the dissertation was received by the campus.

"I was declared to have passed it after the judiciary. And, my judiciary in December," said Bahlil.

Bahlil also asked the media crew to ask UI for details of the suspension of his doctorate.

"Lebih detail nanti tanya di UI saja," tandasnya.

As previously reported, the University of Indonesia (UI) suspended the graduation of Bahlil Lahadalia's doctorate. This decision was taken by UI after a coordination meeting of 4 UI organs.

"Given the steps that have been taken by UI, the graduation of the BL student of the Doctoral Program (S3) SKSG has been suspended, following the Chancellor Regulation Number 26 of 2022, will then follow the ethical trial decision," said a release sent by the Chairperson of the UI Board of Trustees (MWA) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf received Wednesday, November 13.

This decision was taken at the UI Organ Coordination Meeting 4 (four), which is a form of UI's responsibility and commitment to continue to improve better academic governance, transparency, and based on justice. UI also apologized to the public for this.

"Indonesia University apologizes to the public for the problems related to BL, a Doctoral Program (S3) student at the Stratekjik and Global Studies School (SKSG).
