The Minister Of Home Affairs Will Coordinate The Proposal For Voting Day 27 November Holiday

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri), Bima Arya Sugiarto said that his party proposed giving holidays on the 2025 Pilkada voting day on 27 November. The proposal will be coordinated with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Pratikno.

"Indeed, ideally voting day is a holiday because it gives freedom to voters to exercise their voting rights, so that political participation is high," said Bima at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 12.

"So we propose that it actually be declared a holiday. But this must be coordinated with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, this is our proposal," he continued.

The former Mayor of Bogor hopes that the voting day on November 27 can be determined by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture as a national holiday. Just one day during the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"We hope that it is declared a holiday, there is an flexibility to coordinate on preparing and the right to vote is used by residents," said Bima.

"At least on the 27th," he added.

Previously, the KPU also stated that it would immediately coordinate with the government regarding the plan to determine a national holiday in the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, 2024.

"Yes, of course we will coordinate for November 27 to be the day off for the implementation of the regional elections, as in the previous regional elections, including during the national election yesterday," said KPU chairman Mochammad Afifuddin as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 9.

In addition, the KPU will also send a letter and review the plan with the government.

"Later we will review the lowering parties, but the KPU will meet with the government," he said.
