JAKARTA - Ikatan Pedangan Pasar Indonesia (IKAPPI) asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan through Perumda Pasar Jaya to prepare an emergency market. This request follows a fire incident that hit 174 stalls in Pasar Lontar or Pasar Kambing, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, last Thursday, April 8.
Secretary General of IKAPPI Reynaldi Sarijowan considered that traders whose stalls were burned should get the attention of the government. They have to keep alive by trading.
"IKAPPI hopes that after this fire the government through PD Pasar Jaya prepares an emergency market so that affected market traders can directly return to selling," Reynaldi said in a statement, Friday, April 9.
Based on data compiled by IKAPPI, from January to April 2021, there have been at least 35 fires in the market.
"From his record, there are 4,028 kiosks and los affected from 35 cases of fires with 3 people dying until April 2021," he said.
The fire became a terrible scourge for the people who depended on the trade sector in traditional markets.
IKAPPI urges the government through relevant agencies to pay attention to the elements of rescue facilities, active protection systems, passive, surveillance to market fire control.
"The biggest problem of traditional markets is the lack of management and supervision from the government which is far from feasible. I hope the government should increase concern for the welfare of small communities that depend on the traditional market sector," he explained.
