Maluku BKSDA Secures The Ruser Horn From Passengers Of The Fakfak-Ambon Route

MALUKU - The Maluku Province Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has secured an operating deer horn from one of the passengers who just arrived with KM Sangiang with the Fakfak-Geser-Banda-Ambon route.

"When forestry police officers carried out security and supervision of Wildlife Plants (TSL), it was seen that one of the passengers was carrying a green plastic bag to the exit of Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon," said the Forestry Police (Polhut) of the Maluku BKSDA Seto in Ambon, Monday 11 November, confiscated by Antara.

After the officer asked permission to see the contents of the bag, he said, it turned out that it contained one deer hornver. The officer then gave an understanding of the applicable rules, so that the passenger voluntarily handed over the evidence for safekeeping.

"Officers at the Yos Sudarso Port Forestry Police Post in Ambon secured it at the post, and after that it was taken directly to the BKSDA office," he said.

He also appealed to the public not to carry, transport, and sell parts of wildlife, especially the Timor deer type, both horn, meat, and skin, because this type of wildlife is protected by law. Apart from harming biodiversity, it also violates the applicable law.

Based on the provisions of Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems that anyone deliberately catches, injures, kills, keeps, owns, maintains, transports, and trades protected animals (Article 21 paragraph (2) letter a), is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million (Article 40 paragraph (2)).
