JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said his party would prepare Artificial Intelligence (AI) and coding subjects to implement the Red and White Cabinet program related to digitization.
"I hereby convey an official leak. So we convey in our plan that the update of the upcoming curriculum will add AI subjects and coding as selected subjects in schools that have been able to implement it," Mu'ti said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.
He explained that the two subjects would be an option in several schools taking into account the readiness of information and communication technology (ICT) facilities and infrastructure owned by each school.
The reason is, Mu'ti assessed that not all schools have sophisticated ICT tools and fast internet networks so that the initial implementation of the two subjects will only be subject to choice in several schools.
He hopes that with the implementation of these two subjects, his party can answer the vision and mission of the Red and White Cabinet which wants digitization as an effort to improve the quality of education, as well as prepare future generations to compete in the world with AI capabilities and coding.
Previously, Deputy President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka in his direction at the same activity said that he had entrusted a message to the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) to seek the application of AI subjects and coding at the elementary and junior high school education unit levels.
"So don't let us lose to India. Because once again, ladies and gentlemen, to go to Indonesia, we need a golden generation. We want more coding experts, AI experts, experts, Ahlimachine learning, and others," said the Vice President.
