KPU Immediately Coordinates With The Government Regarding The 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Election Holiday

JAKARTA - The KPU will immediately coordinate with the government regarding the plan to determine a national holiday in the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, 2024.

"Yes, of course we will coordinate for November 27 to be the day off for the implementation of the regional elections, as in the previous regional elections, including during the national election yesterday," said KPU chairman Mochammad Afifuddin as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 9.

In addition, the KPU will also send a letter and review the plan with the government.

"Later we will review the lowering parties, but the KPU will meet with the government," he said.

Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the government planned to set a voting day for the simultaneous regional head election on November 27, 2024 as a national holiday.

"Yes, the plan is like that. I plan that in the near days I will coordinate with KPU friends and the Minister of Home Affairs," said Prasetyo.

The Minister of State Secretary said he immediately coordinated with the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian to discuss further.

Previously, KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin ensured that the readiness of the 2024 simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) which will take place on November 27 was 99 percent ready.

He said the KPU had prepared all regional election logistics. In fact, today the KPU throughout Indonesia simultaneously carried out the inauguration of the voting organization group (KPPS).

The simultaneous regional elections in 2024 will be attended by 37 provinces, 415 regencies, and 93 cities.

The total pair of candidates who will compete in the Simultaneous Pilkada reached 1,557 pairs of candidates, consisting of 1,169 pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent as well as 285 pairs of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor.
