BANJARMASIN - The Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) deployed a joint SAR team to search for a 15-year-old teenager who was allegedly attacked by a crocodile in the Karang Bintang Village River, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).
Head of the Banjarmasin SAR Office I Putu Sudayana as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) in Banjarmasin, said the team received information that the victim named AR (15), a resident of Karang Bintang Village, Karang Bintang District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, was allegedly bitten by a crocodile while in the vicinity of the river, was declared missing and reported on Sunday, July 12 at around 22.12 Wita.
"Based on the information received, the incident occurred at around 14.30 Wita, when a witness saw the victim allegedly being attacked by a crocodile around the Karang Bintang Village River. After the incident, the victim was no longer seen, so the community reported the incident to the Batulicin SAR Standby Unit to ask for search and rescue assistance," said Sudayana, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 13.
Following up on the report, the Banjarmasin SAR Office at 22.30 Wita sent a team from the Batulicin SAR Standby Unit consisting of seven personnel using a D-Max Rescue Car to the location of the incident.
The search operation involved the Batulicin SAR Standby Unit, Satpol PP and Damkar Simpang Empat, BPBD Tanah Bumbu Jhonlin Rescue, Karang Bintang Police, Karang Bintang Military Command, Karang Bintang Village officers, and local people with the support of Rubber Boat equipment, communication, water rescue, and other supporting equipment to support the search process at the location of the incident.
"The SAR element carries out the search by prioritizing the safety of personnel considering the location of the incident is in the wildlife habitat," he said.
Until now, the victim is still being searched and coordination is being carried out with all elements of the joint SAR and the local community.
