Human Rights Minister Pigai Asks For A Budget Of IDR 20 T, Bambang Widjojanto: In Fact, We Have A State Budget Deficit

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Bambang Widjojanto, revealed that an in-depth study was needed regarding the Ministry of Human Rights' budget request of Rp. 20 trillion submitted by Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai.

Pigai's reason for asking for the fantastic budget is to finance programs and salaries and allowances according to his wish to add Ministry of Human Rights staff to 2,544 staff who are now only 188 employees.

"It is better to discuss it first at the relevant ministries with the approval of the president," said Bambang in Padang, West Sumatra, Friday, November 1, confiscated by Antara,

According to Bambang, before conveying it to the public, Pigai should first discuss the internal budget request of the Ministry of Human Rights so as not to cause pros and cons in the community.

The founder of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) is of the opinion that a study on a large budget is important to discuss comprehensively to ensure that human rights promotion programs in the country run as expected by the community.

Moreover, Indonesia is currently faced with a deficit in the state budget (APBN). With this condition, the state will certainly look at the ministry's priority scale before disbursing the budget.

"So, the fact is that we have a state budget deficit so that there is a tightening of the budget," said Bambang.

Previously, Chairman of Commission XIII DPR RI Willy Aditya said the addition of the Ministry of Human Rights budget was part of the process of building an image of human rights in Indonesia. However, his party will further explore the wishes of the Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai regarding the addition of the budget.

"It's just a matter of what the Pigai Minister meant for his needs, we haven't explored it yet," he said.
