Rohingya Immigrants In Aceh Will Be Taken To North Sumatra

The Acting Governor of Aceh, Safrizal ZA, stated that Rohingya immigrants who landed in Aceh without documents would later be relocated to refugee camps in the North Sumatra region.

"We take them to a shelter for foreigners without this document, and it is in North Sumatra," said Safrizal ZA, in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 31.

For information, this month there have been two waves of arrivals of dozens of Rohingya refugees in Aceh waters this month, namely in South Aceh and today in East Aceh.

Previously, as many as 151 Rohingya ethnic immigrants were adrift in the waters of Labuhan Haji, South Aceh Regency, on Friday (19/10). After six days at sea, they were finally evacuated to the mainland.

Today, Aceh returned as many as 93 Rohingya refugees, they landed on the coast of Meunasah Hasan Village, Madat District, East Aceh Regency.

Of the refugee groups, six of them were found dead on the local coast.

He said that the Rohingya refugee management procedure was also monitored by the Central Government, in this case the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, immigration and UNHCR.

Basically, he said, the handling of foreign refugees, provincial and district/city governments do not have the authority to handle them. However, humanity must be helped.

"From the human aspect, we empathize and help. But while empathizing and helping, the law must also be enforced against this smuggling case," he said.

Based on the results of monitoring the team in the field, it was also found that some of the Rohingya immigrants in East Aceh had fled to the bushes.

Therefore, the security forces are still working to gather them and then take them to North Sumatra.

"Security forces are working, if we have gathered we will take them to a foreign shelter in North Sumatra. The same is the process in South Aceh," said Safrizal ZA.
