Employees Steal Key And Drain Rp800 Million From Bank Lampung Arrested By Police

Police personnel managed to apprehend a perpetrator of breaking into Bank Lampung's Independent Cash Pavilion (ATM), which is located in the West Coast area.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Coast Police, Iptu Algy Ferliando Seiranausa, said that his party had succeeded in uncovering the theft case with the weight of the ATM pry that occurred on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

"Alhamdulillah, the team succeeded in uncovering a theft case with the weight of an ATM burglary belonging to Bank Lampung, based on a police report with the victim reporting the initials MAA (36) from Bandar Lampung," he said when contacted from South Lampung, Antara, Thursday, October 31.

Based on the report, his party sent a press team of 308 to conduct a series of investigations, then found a bright spot that the alleged perpetrator with the initials CBP (36) was an employee of Bank Lampung himself.

The modus operandi of the perpetrators to steal money at an ATM is to steal the key to the Bank Lampung ATM machine in the supervisor's drawer.

Then the key was used by the perpetrators to steal money at the Bank Lampung ATM machine located in the West Coast area, with a loss of approximately Rp800 million.

"Team immediately moved on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at around 20.00 WIB, to secure the alleged perpetrator of CBP (36). And the perpetrator admitted that he had stolen money at a Bank Lampung ATM by stealing the key to the ATM machine in the supervisor drawer and then the key was used to open the Bank Lampung ATM machine in the West Coast area," he said.

In this case, officers managed to secure evidence from the perpetrators in the form of three million three hundred thousand rupiahs, two units of Bank Lampung ATM cassettes and one key to Bank Lampung ATM machines.

"For the perpetrators, we are trapped under Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft by weight, with the threat of a sentence of 7 years in prison," he said.
