NasDem Proposes Election To Be Held 10 Years Once, Golkar: Not First, Needs Deep Study

JAKARTA - Member of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR from the NasDem Faction, Muslim Ayub proposed elections (elections) every 10 years. Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council of the DPR from the Golkar faction, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, said that the proposed amendment to the Election Law should not be included in material matters.

"In my opinion, we should not go into the matter first, because the material chose a lot. Earlier, for example, regarding the electoral system, it was open, proportional, open, closed. If I am one of the people who supported the hybrid system yesterday. Yes, the mixture is proportional to the district," said Doli at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 30.

Doli assessed that an in-depth study is needed if the implementation of the election must be changed to once every 10 years. According to him, there are still many other things that must be changed, such as the threshold or threshold in both the legislative and presidential elections.

"Just like earlier, NasDem said that they also have a kind of national electoral district that determines it by their own party. So that's a combination of the mixed system. Then the threshold, how many thresholds?," said Doli.

"So we should not enter it first. Later it will be an in-depth study carried out by lawmakers together with if there is input from the public," added the former chairman of Commission III of the DPR.

Previously, Muslim Ayub encouraged elections to be held once every 10 years. He highlighted the question of billions of political capital issued during the election.

"I hope what's wrong with this election once every 10 years, right. Because for this 5 years, the leadership, we are 2025, 2026, we are close, 2027 we have started, we have started elections again," said Ayub in a general hearing (RDPU) Baleg DPR with Komnas HAM, Needdem and AMAN at the DPR RI building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 30.

"So is it possible that we can return this fund with this system. Sorry, on average, we don't spend a little money. At least Rp. 20 billion and above. No one has reached Rp. 10 billion," he added.
