Palace: Social Media Account Of The Presidential Institution Not Prabowo's Personal Account

JAKARTA - Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi emphasized that the social media account of the presidential institution is not a personal account of President Prabowo Subianto.

"This is what we are preparing, not President Prabowo's personal Instagram. But it's an account for the presidential institution, so it's not a personal account," Hasan said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 30.

The Presidential Communication Office has prepared two Instagram social media accounts, namely @presidenrepublicindonesia" and @republicindonesia.

Hasan explained that although the two accounts can be used, it is very likely that the @presidenrepublici Indonesia account will be the main choice. The account will be the account of the presidential institution containing Prabowo's activities as President.

Hasan said that the purpose of creating the presidential institution's account was to create an official communication channel that was not tied to the individual president, so that it could be used by anyone who serves as president in the future.

"There must be an account for the presidential institution. If abroad there is a personal account, there is an account for the presidential institution. So if the presidential institution account is not related to people. So whoever the president will use this account," he said.

The preparation of social media accounts for presidential institutions, he said, also follows other countries, such as the United States with social media accounts @potus which stands for the President of the United States.

"If in America it's a 'potus' account, yes, whoever the president will use a potus account, right, President of the United States," Hasan said.

The Instagram account @presidenrepublicindonesia currently has 636 thousand followers, while the @republicindonesia account has 556 thousand followers.

Both accounts have been verified as "blue tick" and are managed directly by the Presidential Communication Office.

The @presidenrepublicindonesia account uses a photo profile of Prabowo. Until now, there has only been one upload showing the moment Prabowo took an oath at the Presidential inauguration ceremony at the DPR/MPR Building, Jakarta, Sunday (20/10).

"By Allah, I swear, I will fulfill my obligations as President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and fairly, uphold the 1945 Constitution, and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible and serve the homeland and nation," wrote the statement in the upload.

The @republickindonesia account uses a photo profile of the red and white flag. This account also only has one upload in the form of a photo of the red and white flag with the caption "The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
