JAKARTA - Qatar will work closely with US President Joe Biden's administration until a "final minute" before the US Presidential election reaches a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

We believe that we are dealing with institutions, and in countries like the United States, the institution invests in finding resolutions to this crisis," said Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari.

The ceasefire negotiations involving Israeli Hamas and negotiators are not expected to produce significant progress until the winner in the United States (US) presidential election is announced.

Sources explaining the negotiations told CNN the final round of negotiations, which began in Qatar's capital, Doha on Sunday, did not focus on achieving the release of hostages and the ceasefire agreement, but rather on starting the process.

The discussions also include war in Lebanon, as well as Iran and its regional influence.

Another round of talks is expected to take place in a few days, the source said. The US election is scheduled for November 5.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet accepted a ceasefire proposal in Gaza and an agreement to release hostages.

CNN previously reported that Egypt on Sunday proposed a two-day ceasefire in Gaza that would facilitate the exchange of four Israeli hostages detained in the enclave with Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel indefinitely.

In a closed meeting of the Likud Party, Netanyahu said, Israel had not yet received a proposal for the release of four hostages in exchange for a 48-hour ceasefire in Gaza, his spokesman Dr. Omer Dostri said.

"If such a proposal is submitted, the prime minister will immediately accept it," he added.

Earlier, Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach an agreement that would allow the release of hostages held hostage by Hamas, even if it had to be paid at a price that was suffering

"The time is more mature than ever to seek quick plans to repatriate the hostages," Gantz said at a parliamentary meeting of the National Unity Party he chaired.
