Two Drugmakers 'Happy Water' In Semarang Demand The Death Penalty

Two defendants involved in a happy water liquid drug trafficking located in a house on Jalan Ngesrep Barat, Semarang City, Central Java, are being sentenced to death.

The Public Prosecutor of the Semarang City Prosecutor's Office, Supinto Priyono, said that the actions of the two defendants, Padlil Raif and Firdaus, in producing narcotics, were extraordinary crimes.

"To declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 113 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 29.

In their consideration, the prosecutor assessed that the defendant's actions in producing the new type of narcotics could damage the health and character of the nation's children.

"The number of evidences in the crime is very large. The defendant's actions can disrupt the security and stability of the state," he said in a trial chaired by Chief Judge Abdul Kadir.

Based on these demands, the panel of judges gave the defendant the opportunity to present his defense at the next trial.

Previously, the police exposed the practice of producing happy water drugs in a house on Jalan Ngesrep Barat, Semarang City, Central Java, in April 2024.

The happywater drug, which has a similar effect to ecstasy, is similar to the disclosure of drugs previously committed in Thailand.

The police have secured 1,200 happy water packages ready for distribution at the factory's location.

In addition, there is evidence in the form of 14 kilograms of methamphetamine as raw material for the new type of drug which was confiscated in the disclosure.
