JAKARTA - Member of Commission X DPR RI Verrell Bramasta encourages the younger generation to continue working in the midst of the challenges of the times of uncertainty. Verrell said the younger generation is a agents of change that can build Indonesia.

"Young Generations, including millennials and Gen Z, have extraordinary potential with various innovations and creativity. So there needs to be full support to optimize the potential that exists in the younger generation," said Verrell Bramasta, Tuesday, October 29.

"Young people today are required to have high competence in order to have competitiveness, especially in the world of work," said this member of the DPR from the millennial circle.

Referring to Euronews, the company was busy dismissing Gen Z employees shortly after receiving it. This was revealed from a study involving 1,000 managers who overseeed workers in their 20s. The result stated that one in six admitted that they no longer wanted to hire Gen Z because of their poor reputation.

There were the 10 biggest reasons Gen Z was fired based on studies, namely due to lack of motivation and initiative at work (50%), lack of professionalism (46%), lack of organizational capability (42%), lack of communication capability (39%), less able to respond to feedback (from superiors or clients) (38%), lack of relevant work experience (38%), lack of problem solving (34%), inefficient technical ability (31%), unable to blend with the company's culture (31%) to the difficulty of working. team (30%).

"Looking at the data, I'm sure Gen Z in Indonesia is much better. As long as he is given the opportunity, Gen Z will definitely be able to adapt to their distinctive character," Verrell said.

Legislators from the West Java VII electoral district revealed that Generation Z and millennials excel in adapting to technological advances and rapid digitization. Verrell said, Indonesia really needs such human resources to build the nation.

"In today's digital era, Indonesia certainly needs the younger generation in maximizing its creativity. I believe that the younger generation of Indonesia, including Gen Z, can be invited to discuss and directed to be better," he explained.

Furthermore, Verrell assessed that Gen Z could take advantage of technological advances to work in various fields.

"Young people can take advantage of the digital world for various things that must be done in the positive realm, so that they get results from the digital world. So opportunities for young people today are wider, not limited to the traditional realm alone," he said.

Apart from the digital world, Verrell also encourages the younger generation to explore their talents in various fields. Both in academics, sports, arts and culture, creative economy, MSMEs, entrepreneurship and so on.

Verrel also said that the younger generation currently has the opportunity to work on non-formal routes. For this reason, Verrell encourages the Government and the education world sector to increase the vocational program for the younger generation.

"The progress of the times demands that the younger generation be more competitive, so that Indonesian youths must have advantages of skills outside of academics so that they do not lose to AI and can compete both in the formal and non-formal sectors," Verrell said.

"Currently there are many opportunities in the non-formal sector that the younger generation can take advantage of. This opportunity must be taken by us as young people. vocational education can also be a means of empowerment for Gen Z," he added.

The Vocational Program itself is an educational program at the level of education that aims to prepare personnel who can establish expertise and skills in their fields, are ready to work and be able to compete globally.
