Mataram Police Examine Child Thief Addicted To Methamphetamine And Online Gambling

MATARAM - The Mataram City Police, West Nusa Tenggara, examined a child suspected of being addicted to methamphetamine and online gambling (judol) with the initials YD for the theft of three chickens in one of the residents' houses in the New Ejalik area.

Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim Kompol I Made Yogi Purusa Utama said this examination was a follow-up to the report of the owner of three chickens on Sunday afternoon (27/10).

"We are conducting this examination for the needs of the case title process, considering that we made an attempt to force (arrest) last night against the child-age perpetrator with the initials YD," Yogi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 28.

YD committed the theft on Sunday morning (27/10) at around 10:00 WITA. The action that jumped the fence of the victim's house and took three chickens in the cage was caught on CCTV cameras.

YD's action, which was caught on CCTV cameras at the victim's house, went viral on social media.

Due to CCTV footage attached to the victim in the report, the Mataram Police Satreskrim Operations Team identified and succeeded in arresting YD on Sunday (27/10).

"So, from the actions recorded on CCTV and viral on social media, this is the basis for us to make coercive efforts (arrest). We have identified the whereabouts of the person concerned in more than 24 hours," he said.

Regarding the whereabouts of the three chickens belonging to the victim, he explained, it was revealed that YD had sold them to a man with the initials IMSU from Karang Kauhan for IDR 280 thousand.

"This IMSU, which bought three chickens from YD, again sold evidence to a resident at a price of Rp. 570 thousand," he said.

Against IMSU, the police also made efforts to force arrests. IMSU is now facing criminal charges under Article 480 of the Criminal Code regarding the collectors of theft.

"For YD himself, the perpetrators of this child's age are threatened with Article 362 of the Criminal Code for committing theft during the day, the maximum penalty is 5 years. We'll see from the results of the title," said Yogi.

Regarding YD who is addicted to drugs and judol, Yogi got this information from YD's confession during the examination process. The money from the sale of three chickens has been used to buy crystal methamphetamine and play judol.

"So, YD came from Sumbawa. He has never returned home for 3 months, the reason is he is afraid of his parents because they never go to school, the money his parents gave him has run out to buy crystal methamphetamine and judol, and the money from stealing chickens," he said.

By obtaining this information, Yogi ensured that his party also coordinated with the Mataram Police Narcotics Unit.

"Later, the Narcotics Unit will determine whether it will be rehabilitated. We are still trying to get special attention so that cases of child-age perpetrators can be saved from the influence of drugs and judol," said Yogi.
