Investigate Bayu Adityawan's Death, Central Sulawesi Police Holds Case To Determine Suspect Tomorrow

Central Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Agus Nugroho revealed the cause of the death of Bayu Adityawan's detainee at the Palu Police to Commission III of the DPR during a hearing (RDP) at the Parliament Complex today.

Agus said Bayu died as a result of being abused by fellow detainees and officers guarding the Palu Police.

Agus said that his party had taken over the handling of the case by directly forming a joint team consisting of investigators from the Central Sulawesi Regional Police's Ditreskrimum, Paminal Polda Central Sulawesi and Bid Propam Polda Central Sulawesi.

"And from some of these facts, it was revealed that it was reasonable to suspect that the main cause of the death of the late Bayu Adityawan at Bayangkara Hospital in Central Sulawesi, was not only caused by the illness he suffered alone, but we also found the fact that the deceased had previously experienced acts of violence by guard officers and fellow detainees, which we have currently processed," Agus said in the meeting room of Commission III of the DPR RI, Monday, October 28.

Following up on these findings, Agus emphasized that the joint team had investigated the case and had even entered the finalization stage. For that, he said, the party will conduct a professional code of ethics trial in the near future.

"In this case, we can report that currently the Central Sulawesi Regional Police Ditpropam has completed the examination process and will soon hold a professional code of ethics trial in the near future," said Agus.

"I have already targeted Thursday this week when we return from Jakarta. Likewise with the Ditreskrimum," he continued.

After receiving the results of the announcement on Thursday, October 24, Agus said that his party immediately examined the expert witnesses the day after that, namely October 25, 2024, in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"And if there are no obstacles, the plan is for Tuesday, October 29, 2024, a case will be held to increase the status of the reported party to become a suspect," he said.
