NTT Police Chief Admits He Doesn't Know Ipda Rudy Soik Until He Gets OTT Propam

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR RI held a meeting with the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police, one of which discussed the case related to the dismissal of Ipda Rudy Soik at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, today.

During the meeting, the NTT Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Silitonga admitted that he did not know who Ipda Rudy Soik was at first.

"But, because there was information that at that time stated that there were members of the National Police who were carrying out karaoke during business hours. So, Propam carried out OTT actions and found 4 members of the National Police, one named Yohanes Suhardi Kasat Reskrim Polresta Kupang," said Daniel at the DPR Commission III meeting, Monday, October 28.

"Then the second is Ipda Rudi Soik, who at that time served as KBO or Kaur Bin Ops Detective of the Kupang Police and two Polwan, namely Ipda Lusi and Brigadier Jane," he continued.

Daniel said that at the time of the arrest, Ipda Rudy and Ipda Lusi were sitting in pairs and drinking alcohol.

Based on these findings, he said, the Head of Propam immediately reported with special information as the head of the NTT Regional Police.

So, he also positioned a legal process against the four people.

Then, at the next stage, examinations of a number of witnesses and filings were also carried out up to the code of ethics court. "Because the scope of the alleged violators is the scope of ethics," he explained.

After the examination and filing were carried out, continued Daniel, three people were tried and accepted the court's decision, namely the placement of apologizing to the institution and special placement in a special place for seven days.

"3 people were punished and accepted, but 1 person on behalf of Ipda Rudy Soik did not accept, objected and asked for an appeal," he said.

According to Daniel, after an appeal hearing, the judge considered that the reasons in the memorandum of appeal given were deemed to deviate from what he was suspected of.

"And at the time of the appeal hearing, according to the judge, the person concerned was uncooperative and all denied what the Propam member had taken. Thus, the verdict was burdensome and added to the previous decision," he said.

"Our previous decision needs to be conveyed that apologizing for this act is an act of flaws and placement in a special place for 14 days and a demonstration for 3 years, that is the first sentence given," he added.

However, said Daniel, Ipda Rudy Soik did not accept and declared an appeal. So, in the appeal, it was clearly investigated that ID's initiative then the brain behind all their karaoke implementation was Ipda Rudy Soik and he denied all of that.

"Therefore, it was decided, plus the sentence of only one sentence was increased, namely demotion from 3 years to 5 years. And the patsus was 14 days," he concluded.
