JAKARTA - Candidate Governor number 2 Dharma Pongrekun questioned the candidate for Deputy Governor number 3 Rano Karno regarding the problems experienced by the Baduy community when Rano served as Governor of Banten in the second debate of the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

To Rano, Dharma questioned why Rano seemed to let Baduy become a tourism destination. In fact, according to Dharma, it has been rejected by the Baduy residents themselves.

"When you served as governor in Banten, I read in the newspaper that the Baduy residents refused to use the place as a tourism destination. If I see that you are a person who maintains cultural resilience, then there is something that is connected with what you are doing. Why did that have to happen?" Dharma told Rano, Sunday, October 27.

Rano immediately denied that he did not heed the request of the Baduy residents. While serving as Governor of Banten, Rano admitted that he facilitated the development of the tourism sector in Baduy. The positive impact, Baduy became known to the public more widely.

Then, Rano said that there were indeed concerns from the Baduy community when the number of tourists who came there was increasing.

"The Baduy community is known to be wider, that does scare them because tourist visits there are booming," he said.

However, Rano emphasized that he did not reject the Baduy residents' requests for the impact of tourist visits in his area. Rano said that he had taken a way out by limiting the number of tourists to Baduy.

"I did not refuse, but indeed I limited it. For what reason? The Baduy community's request itself. When I was governor of Banten, at that time we provided what facilities we could help," said Rano.

For information, the second debate tonight has the theme of economics and social welfare. The debate participants are the candidate pair (paslon) for Governor-Deputy Governor number 1 Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, candidate pair number 2 Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana, and candidate pair number 3 Pramono Anung-Rano Karno.
