DPR Commission II: Prabowo's Target Of The DPR Annual Session At IKN Must Be Implemented

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dede Yusuf, believes that President Prabowo Subianto's target or hope so that the DPR/MPR Annual Session in 2028 can be held in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, in principle it must be held.

He said the principle regarding this matter had actually been contained in Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Capital City of the Archipelago. According to him, the target in 2028 is possible to be implemented.

"It should be like that if everything goes well," said Dede Yusuf when contacted in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, October 27.

However, according to him, there are things that must be resolved first if you want the DPR/MPR Annual Session to be held at IKN, namely the readiness of adequate facilities and infrastructure.

Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives in charge of IKN affairs, according to him, will soon invite the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) to monitor the latest performance of the IKN development process.

"There is (a meeting with OIKN) next week, we are still looking for a schedule," he said.

As for Article 22 Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2 of Law (UU) Number 3 of 2022, state institutions change positions and carry out their duties, functions, and roles gradually in the capital city of the archipelago. The state institutions referred to in the law, including the DPR, are the central level legislative institutions.

Previously, the Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni revealed that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto firmly in his treatment with the Red and White Cabinet (KMP) conveyed his commitment to completing the construction of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) within four years.

According to him, Prabowo hopes that by 2028 IKN will be effectively used as a location for government and state politics activities.

"He (Prabowo) hopes that in August 2028 the DPR/MPR Plenary Session can be held at IKN. In fact, he hopes that the inauguration of the President and Vice President in 2029 will be held at IKN," Raja Juli said in a statement on his official Instagram account.
