Easter Holidays, 350 Thousand Private Vehicles Used The Toll Road

JAKARTA - As many as 350 thousand private vehicles entered toll roads during the Easter holidays on April 1-4. This figure is based on a report obtained from PT Jasa Marga.

"Yesterday's Easter holiday, from PT Jasa Marga's report, we received reports that only around 350 thousand vehicles were passing through the toll road", said Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati in a press conference broadcast on the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) Indonesia YouTube channel, Tuesday, April 6.

In addition to this appointment, she also said that many traveled by airplane through Angkasa Pura I and II. This is evidenced by the increase in passengers by 39.8 percent.

With this phenomenon, Adita admits that the momentum of the long holiday often occurs when people move from one city to another.

Even though the Ministry of Transportation has the duty and function of facilitating mobility, during a pandemic, people are asked not to travel.

"We continue to appeal if it is not urgent, it is not necessary, it is better not to do mobility first. Because we are still anticipating the situation and we also hear input from experts, the task force, and ministries and institutions regarding the movement of people", said Adita.

The Ministry of Transportation, he continued, strives continuously to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the community due to mobility. All strict regulations, he continued, have been established and enforced with reference to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Circular.

"We have enforced strict rules for passengers to travel between cities. We refer to the Circular from the COVID-19 Task Force which regulates the conditions for inter-city or long-distance travel", she concluded.
