6 Student Motorcycles Suddenly Burned At SLB Tamalate Makassar

A number of motorbikes were burned down in the parking area of the State 1 Extraordinary School (SLB), Tamalate District, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Monday (21/10/2024).

Makassar Police are investigating a sudden fire belonging to six female students who are carrying out field work (PKL) practices at the State 1 Extraordinary School (SLB) Tamalate District, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"It is true that six motorbikes caught fire in the school parking area, there were no casualties. For the time being, the case is still under investigation by the Tamalate Police Criminal Investigation Unit," said Head of Public Relations of the Makassar Polrestabes AKP Wahiduddin as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 21.

The incident occurred this morning (Monday, 21/10) in the SLB Negeri 1 Makassar parking area, Bontoduri Village, Tamalate District, Makassar.

The six student motorbikes belonged to students from Makassar State University (UNM), two students from Bosowa University (Unibos) and two students from Poltekkes Makassar.

A total of four units of the Fire Department were dispatched to the location of the fire to extinguish the fire. After the fire was extinguished, the Makassar Police Inafis team together with the Head of IK of the Tamalate Police, Iptu Sukarman, and their personnel conducted an investigation of the scene of the case to determine the cause.

Security guard at the school, Hasanuddin Daeng Nai said the incident was not at the location of the fire, and only found out after being called by the principal. Next try to extinguish the fire.

Principal of SLB Andi Hamjan learned about the incident after seeing thick black smoke billowing outside his window. After checking outside the school yard, he saw the flames that burned the parked motorbike.

The flames even made teachers and students panic. Even one of the female students who saw his motorbike was sold out by the red rooster immediately fainted and was unconscious.

"Earlier suddenly came out in the yard of the school, seeing a thick puff of smoke. We took out four fire extinguishers (light fire extinguishers). Thank God, at least it helped (to extinguish the fire)," he said.

The Commander of the Makassar Damkarmat Platoon Ramli said the fire that burned the motorbike was successfully tamed and did not spread into the school. A total of seven units of the fleet were lowered because they were thought to be the houses of the residents who burned down.
