Giring Ganesha is a man born in Jakarta, July 14, 1983. He is the son of Djumaryo Imam Muhni, a journalist who had worked in several media, one of whom was the Antara news agency. Despite being born from the blood of journalists, Giring did not follow in his father's footsteps.

Since college, Giring has focused on music. In this field he built his career until the formation of the popular Nidji band in the 2000s. Unfortunately, Giring's musical career didn't last forever. He decided to withdraw from Nidji and become a politician in 2017.

In fact, Giring began to explore politics in 2014. At that time Giring was active as a Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla volunteer in the 2014 presidential election. In 2017 Giring also volunteered Ahok-Drajot Saeful.

Giring really entered politics after he decided to join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). In fact, Giring announced his participation as a candidate for legislative member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from PSI, who at that time was chaired by Grace Natalie.

In his candidacy, Giring managed to gain 47 thousand votes. Unfortunately, he still could not make it to Senayan because PSI failed to meet the parliamentary threshold of 4 percent at the DPR RI level.

Even though it failed, Giring's career in the world of politics remained smooth. Grace, who at that time served as Chairman of PSI, appointed Giring to be the Acting Chairman of PSI. The task was given because Grace had to complete her education in Singapore. Giring officially became the Acting Chairman of PSI from 2019-2024.

Having failed in his first candidacy, Giring again ran as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the West Java 1 electoral district in 2024. On that occasion Giring received 44 thousand votes. He was again declared to have failed to travel to Senayan.

Giring has also been in the public spotlight because he shows signals to run in the 2024 Presidential Election. But he failed the plan. Even in the same year Giring had said his plan to return to the world of music as before.

However, Prabowo Subianto's victory as President seems to be a bright spot for Giring's political career. The reason is, he became one of the artists invited to Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta by Prabowo on October 15, 2024. The invitation marked that he would get a position in the Prabowo-Gibran government.
