Secretary General Of PKB Optimistic That Food Self-Sufficiency Can Be Realized Optimal During President Prabowo's Period

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the National Awakening Party (PKB) M. Hasanuddin Wahid expressed his belief that the food self-sufficiency target promoted by President Prabowo Subianto could be realized properly. He said that food self-sufficiency is the government's main task in ensuring that no people are starving.

"PKB is very optimistic. The main task of the government is to ensure that the people are full, and we are sure that Indonesia can achieve food self-sufficiency," Hasanuddin said at the MPR/DPR RI Complex, Jakarta, Sunday, October 20.

Hasanuddin explained five important steps that need to be taken to optimize food self-sufficiency programs. The first step is to gather all parties who have an in-depth understanding of food. Second, design regulations that protect the food sector, from upstream to downstream.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of preventing leakage of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and placing farmers and fishermen as the main subject of food development. The last step is to expand the diversification of food areas throughout Indonesia.

President Prabowo Subianto previously also targeted food self-sufficiency in his first state speech. He is optimistic that in 4-5 years, Indonesia will not only achieve self-sufficiency, but is also ready to become a world food barn.

The Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly which was held on Sunday also witnessed the oath of office of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024'2029.
