Prabowo Closes State of the Nation Address with Saying "Freedom!" Three Times

JAKARTA - President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto closed his state address at his inauguration by saying the word "freedom!" three times loudly.

"Freedom!, freedom!, freedom!" said Prabowo at the Plenary Session of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Sunday.

After closing his speech, Prabowo was seen hugging Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and then approaching the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin to kiss his hand, then hug him.

After hugging Kiai Ma'ruf, Prabowo walked over to a number of representatives of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) sitting in front while shaking their hands one by one.

Next, Prabowo bowed to all those present and approached the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, and made a salute, before hugging him.

Previously, in his state address, Prabowo emphasized that he swore before God Almighty and all the people of Indonesia to run the government in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution (UUD) to serve the nation and state.

He also conveyed his promise to the people to achieve self-sufficiency in food and energy, ensure subsidies reach the right targets, and protect the weak Indonesian people.

Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka also took the oath of office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 term on that occasion.

A total of 732 members of the MPR RI witnessed the oath-taking process. The Plenary Session of the MPR RI was also attended by national figures, leaders of political parties, and representatives of friendly countries.
