JAKARTA - The EU's Head of Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, said Europe's security situation would be in real danger if retaliatory attacks between Israel and Iran affected nuclear and oil production facilities.
CNN quoted a number of sources as reporting Washington predicting Israel would carry out a counter-attack against Iran before the United States (US) general election day.
"The war, which began with the Hamas attack, was followed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attack on Gaza and then Lebanon," Borrell said in a speech at the 4th European Defense and Security Conference in Brussels.
"Now the reply... between Iran and Israel could reach certain levels involving nuclear facilities, oil production facilities, and possibly resulting in deployment of troops on the battlefield in Lebanon," Borrell said.
"So the security situation in Europe will be very, very dangerous," Borrell said.
