YOGYAKARTA Muhammad Herindra's profile is interesting to talk about. Especially regarding the nomination of M Herindra to become Head of BIN. As is known, Muhammad Herindra's proposal as head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) came from President Joko Widodo. The proposal is contained in Presidential Letter (Surpres) Number R-51 dated October 10, 2024.

Reporting from Antara, Muhammad Herindra was a man born in Magelang, 20 November 1964. He started his career in the Indonesian military world from the Military Academy (Akmil). At Akmil, Herindra is still in the same force as Andika Perkasa, who is the former TNI Commander.

While still in Akmil, Herindra managed to leave a pretty good track. He became one of the best graduates of Military Academy (1987). He also received several awards such as Adhi Makayasa and Tri Sakti Wiratama.

Herindra served as Commander of Korem 101 Antasari in 2012 with the rank of Infantry Colonel. In addition, in 2013, he served as Deputy Commander General (Wadanjen) of Kopassus until February 2015.

After that Herindra became the Chief of Staff of the Regional Military Command (Kasdam) III/Siliwangi. However, the position was only for a short time. In the same year, 2015, he was appointed as Danjen Kopassus.

In 2016, Harindra was promoted to Pangdam III/Siliwangi. In the following year, he was appointed to the position of Pa Sahli Tk. III for Hubint TNI Commander. Again, the position did not last long. He changed his position as Inspector General of the TNI from 2018 to 2020. In the same year, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto inaugurated Lt. Gen. Herindra as TNI General Staff Chief with a term of office of only a few months, from October 21 to December 23, 2020.

After sitting as Kasum TNI, Herindra was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) with a term of office until 2024. In his new position, he accompanied Prabowo Subianto, who was then appointed Minister of Defense (Menhan).

Most recently, Muhammad Herindra was appointed as Head of BIN proposed by President Jokowi to replace Budi Gunawan. Currently, the proposal letter for the appointment has arrived at the DPR RI.

Related to this, the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that the fit and proper would soon be held.

"So a name has been proposed from President Jokowi. The Surpres for the replacement of the Head of BIN on behalf of Mr. Herindra, God willing, the fit and proper will be carried out or the consideration from the DPR, God willing, tomorrow morning in the DPR," said Puan Maharani during a press conference at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15.

It should be noted that the consideration of changing the Head of BIN was carried out by Commission I of the DPR in terms of defense, intelligence and foreign affairs. However, because AKD has not yet been formed, the DPR finally agreed to form a team that will discuss the appointment of the new KaBIN.

"Given that the AKD has not yet been formed, based on the provisions of articles 111 and 112 of the DPR RI regulation number 1 of 2020 concerning rules, the consultation meeting decided to form a team led by the leadership of the DPR," explained Puan.
