KPK Says There Has Been No Request For Prabowo To Check The Profile Of Ministerial Candidates

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there had been no request from the elected president, Prabowo Subianto to check the profile of the ministerial candidate, deputy minister, and head of the body of choice. This assurance was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika.

This step was taken by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) while serving in the first period, 2014-2019. When he compiled his cabinet, he asked the KPK and the Financial Transaction Analysis Center (PPATK) to conduct profiling.

"Until the latest information, there has been no request," Tessa told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, October 16.

"Whether it has been conveyed in the deputy for prevention, in this case whether there is gratification or not, or maybe the LHKPN has been requested or not, I have not been informed," he continued.

Even so, the anti-corruption commission believes that the person Prabowo will choose will certainly be considered. Moreover, continued Tessa, they will occupy positions that control the lives of many people.

In addition, the KPK also believes that Prabowo as president-elect has a vision in eradicating corruption in the future. Tessa then mentioned the statement of the Minister of Defense which reminded his future cabinet ministers not to seek money from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

"Mr. Prabowo with his statement appealed as previously stated, party officials, who will later be placed in the cabinet, or occupy other public positions not to take actions that could harm state finances," he said.

"So the submission is a form of firm vision and the KPK supports this statement. Hopefully in the future he as the elected president will be more involved in law enforcement officers, both the police, the prosecutor's office, and the KPK to be able to work together in eradicating corruption," concluded the spokesman with the investigator's background.
