Reported Missing, 2 Boy Found Dead In Nambo Serang River

SERANG - The joint search and rescue team (SAR) of Banten Province found two children who were reported to have drowned in the Nambo river, Serang Regency, Banten.

Head of the Banten SAR Office Al Amrad, said the two children who drowned were Safira aged 11 years and M. Ikhsan aged 8 years. The two victims were residents of Kalimalang, Beberan Village, Serang Regency.

"The two victims were found dead at different times on the second day of the search," Al was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Sunday, October 13.

He said Safira's body was found by local residents at 07.25 WIB. The victim's body was found floating about 200 meters from the scene.

Then, at around 08.00 WIB, the joint SAR team found the body of the second victim on behalf of M. Ikhsan, who was about 400 meters from the initial location of the incident.

"The condition of the body was also found floating and the two bodies of the victim were immediately evacuated to the funeral home," he said.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the hard work and efforts of the joint SAR Team in searching for the victims.

With the discovery of the two victims, it is proposed that the SAR operation be closed and the elements involved are returned to their respective units.

"The joint SAR team expresses their condolences to the families of the victims, and the family is given fortitude. As well as full appreciation to the joint SAR Team who are solid and working hard to find victims," he said.

Based on information, the victim was initially bathing on the banks of the Nambo River, Ciruas District with his friends on Saturday (12/10) at 15.45 WIB. Then, the two children allegedly slipped and drowned.

Residents had conducted a search, but never found a victim. Then the SAR team received a report and immediately dispatched a rescue team to conduct a search until the second day.
