DKI Provincial Government Sets 305 Cultural Conservations Throughout 2022-2024

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has set 305 cultural heritages throughout 2022 to 2024, starting from cultural heritage, cultural heritage buildings, cultural heritage structures, cultural heritage sites, and cultural heritage areas.

"The total number of cultural heritages in Jakarta is 305, consisting of 20 cultural heritage objects, 253 cultural heritage buildings, 28 cultural heritage structures, two cultural heritage sites, and two cultural heritage areas," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Culture Service Iwan Henry Wardhana in his statement, Sunday, October 13.

Details of the distribution of cultural heritages in five cities of the DKI Jakarta Administration and the Thousand Islands Regency since 1993, namely the Central Jakarta Administrative City Region has 109 cultural heritages, the North Jakarta Administrative City Region has 18 cultural heritages.

Then, the West Jakarta Administrative City Region has 129 cultural heritages, the South Jakarta Administrative City Region has 14 cultural heritages, the East Jakarta Administrative City has 31 cultural heritages, and the Thousand Islands Administrative District has four cultural heritages.

Iwan assessed that cultural heritage on land and in water needs to be preserved because it has important value for history, science, education, religion, and culture through the process of determination.

"The proposal for determination is carried out if an object meets four criteria, namely 50 years or older, representing the shortest style period aged 50 years, has a special meaning for the history, science, education, religion, and/or culture, and has cultural value for strengthening the nation's personality," he explained.

"The more dynamic and the more objects that are designated as cultural heritage, the greater the role of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in carrying out efforts to preserve the nation's cultural heritage, especially those in the Jakarta area," he added.

Meanwhile, in the last two years of 2022-2024, Iwan said that there were 18 buildings and cultural heritage structures that had been established.
