JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) reported that five people died in the fire on the fast group ship of the Candidate Pair for Governor and Deputy Governor of North Maluku Benny Laos - Sabrin Sehe.

"Yes, while it was reported that five people were killed. Evacuation has been carried out to the Talibu Island Hospital and Health Center, but the data on passengers being victims is still in the identification process," said Head of the Ternate SAR Office Fathurahman as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 12.

The head of the SAR Office confirmed that the survivors who were evacuated from the ship fire included Benny Laos - Sabrin Sehe Pair of Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of North Maluku number 4.

Based on information confirmed by the Ternate SAR team in the field, the speedboat fire incident occurred on Saturday at 14.05 WIT at Bobong Regional Port Pier, Bobong Village, Taliabu Island Regency, North Maluku.

The fire was only able to be controlled after two units of the Talibau Island fire engine were deployed to the location at around 15.00 WIT.

The fire extinguishing is still ongoing, currently the condition of the ship partially sank to the bottom of the port.

The ship fire incident allegedly had sparks when the ship was refueling, but is still under investigation by police officers on Taliabu Island.
