JAKARTA - Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Saldi Isra brought up the importance of the role of political parties in the state because of the Indonesian political superstructure which includes executive, legislative, and judicial institutions built by political parties.

"For example, the submission of a presidential candidate, the explicit constitution, said political parties. People want to be Supreme Court justices, even though instruments called the Judicial Commission have been provided, in the end they are determined by the DPR which contains political parties," said Saldi Isra as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, 10 OCTober.

Thus, Saldi Isra felt the need for serious attention to political parties in Indonesia. In fact, he was late to realize how rarely the management of political parties drew attention.

In fact, said Saldi Isra, almost all movements of institutions in Indonesia cannot be separated from the support and involvement of political parties.

Therefore, he emphasized that what must be a common focus for the future is the management of political parties.

"Since 1999, we are talking about political decentralization, but have never spoken about decentralization of political parties," said Saldi.

Saldi Isra also revealed that he is one of the supporters of financing political parties through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

The state budget given to political parties, he said, could be a way for the public to have the right to control political parties.

The greater the budget given, according to Saldi Isra, the better.

"If the use of the APBN is completely prohibited, political parties will continue to stand. However, we, the public, and the people will lose power to control political parties," he said.

According to him, what needs to be built is how the mechanism for accountability of state money is used to manage political parties.

"The public's right to control political parties will be even greater," said Saldi.
