Ojol Robbers In Cengkareng Use Crime Results For Methamphetamine And Apartment Rentals

The five robbers who had the heart to seize a motorbike belonging to an ojol driver in Kebon Jeruk turned out to be using the proceeds of a crime for a drug party.

The five suspects had the initials MI alias Kelemple (25), MY alias Ucup (37), S alias Pandi (30), RK alias Abak (31), and MF exchanged goods resulting from crimes for drugs in the Cengkareng area.

"The four main actors rented a room in the Cengkareng apartment before carrying out the action. They rented it at a rate of Rp. 250 thousand per day. After that, they looked for victims randomly," said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes M. Syahduddi when confirmed, Wednesday, October 9.

Kombes Syahduddi said the motive for the perpetrators to carry out this robbery was to get money to buy drugs.

After successfully seizing the victim's bag and motorbike, the perpetrator took the stolen goods to the apartment.

"One unit of the victim's cellphone was sold to a drug dealer in the Ambon Village area," he said.

From the sale, the perpetrators received IDR 200 thousand in cash and a package of methamphetamine which was then consumed together in the apartment.

The police chief also appealed to people who are active at night to be more vigilant, especially when carrying valuables such as motorbikes or cellphones.

"As much as possible, don't rest in a quiet place and make sure there are other people or officers around," he said.

The police chief said that the perpetrators of crimes often took advantage of the condition of a quiet place and lacked lighting to carry out their actions.

Therefore, the public is expected to be more vigilant and always be in crowded places to avoid similar incidents.

The West Jakarta Metro Police will also increase supervision in areas prone to crime, especially at night.
