JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, chaired the Central PWI Daily Management meeting on Monday (7/10/2024). This meeting discussed a number of strategic steps to complete the PWI work program in the remainder of 2024 and draw up plans for 2025. One of the important points discussed is the request of the Provincial PWI management to continue the Journalist Competency Test (UKW).

"We will continue the UKW program. In November 2024, UKW will be held in three locations," said Hendry Ch Bangun. In the meeting, there were several other daily administrators such as Secretary General Iqbal Irsyad, Wasekjen Raja Pane, General Treasurer M Nasir, Director of UKW PWI, Firdaus Komar, Chairman of the Anti Hoax Task Force, Budi Nugraha, and Chairman of the Expert Council Sayid Iskandarsyah.

In addition to UKW, the meeting also evaluated several PWI flagship programs, including the Indonesian Journalism School (SJI) and efforts to develop national insight in journalism. These programs are the main pillars in the management of PWI under Hendry Ch Bangun.

The meeting also highlighted the recently held Campus Press Training. As a former Chief Editor of the Salemba campus newspaper at the University of Indonesia, Hendry assessed that the activity was a big success. "The enthusiasm of students in Jabodetabek is very high in participating in this journalistic training," said Hendry. Therefore, the Central PWI plans to expand the range of training by involving more universities throughout Indonesia.

Hendry emphasized that campus press has a big contribution to the world of Indonesian journalism. To support this, PWI will continue to move campus press, including through activities such as the 2024 Adinegoro Journalism Award in collaboration with various stakeholders.

In the future, PWI will also continue to monitor the development of Presidential Decree No. 34 concerning Quality Journalism and encourage increased AI technology use skills, such as Chat GPT, for PWI members and other mass media.
