KAI Notes, 102 Accident Cases On The Railway Crossing Line During 2024

PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta noted that as many as 507 level crossing points still exist in the Daop 1 Jakarta area to date. Of these, there are 268 official crossings and 239 illegal crossings.

"We continue to socialize safety-related at level crossings. The purpose of this activity is to increase public awareness about the importance of traffic discipline at level crossings," said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations PLH Manager, Tohari when confirmed, Monday, October 7.

Currently, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is also conducting socialization activities at JPL 17 Duren Kalibata, South Jakarta.

"This socialization is at several level crossing points, both maintained and not maintained," he said.

There are 299 crossings guarded by KAI, Transportation Agency, and community self-help points and 208 points are not maintained.

"KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has been trying to close the crossing to improve the safety of train travel," he said.

The number of closed level crossings that have been carried out during 2023 is 65 crossings. In 2024, KAI closed 15 crossings.

"Happy 2024 until now there are 102 incidents, with details of the month of January 15 incidents, February 14, March 13, April 15, May 8, June 11, July 16, August 7 and September 6 incidents," he said.

Victims of accidents at a level crossing with minor, serious injuries and even death.

"Violations at level crossings can be fatal and are a violation of the law that can be subject to sanctions in accordance with Law No. 23 of 2007 concerning Railways and Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation," he said.
