Community Leaders To The Jakarta Governor's Paslon: Don't Let Betawi Culture Be Elected In Fact

JAKARTA - Three candidate pairs (paslon) of the Governor of DKI Jakarta will undergo their first debate at JiExpo Kemayoran. The debate between the Governor and Deputy Governor candidates will be held three times. West Jakarta Youth Leader Umar Abdul Aziz also challenged the three candidate pairs.

As a community leader, he sees the majority of candidate pairs competing to promote Betawi culture. For this reason, Umar challenged the three candidate pairs, namely Ridwal Kami-Suswono, Pramono Agung-Rano Karno, and Dharma Pangrekun-Kun Wardana to actively attend Betawi activities.

"Don't be elected as Governor and Deputy Governor of promotion for slack Betawi culture. Then there is an invitation for Betawi activities not to attend," said Umar.

Not only that, Umar also did not want the Governor and Deputy Governor to be elected later, only looking at the surroundings of Sudirman and the Merdeka Palace. Governors and Deputy Governors must dig deeper, such as the West, North and others. Where in the area there is still much to consider.

"Betawi culture needs to be preserved because it is Jakarta's local wisdom which is increasingly eroded by the changing times," said Umar.

For this reason, as a youth leader, he challenged the governor and deputy governor candidates to create a real program about the existence of the Betawi people who are increasingly marginalized. Not only that, the welfare of the teachers must also be considered.

"First, appearing at a betawi event like Lenong, it's better to be a Lenong player where it becomes Betawi culture. Then how to make Ondel-Ondel as the Betawi icon not used to sing," he concluded.

As is known, the three candidate pairs will compete with ideas in their inaugural debate on Sunday (5/10). The three candidate pairs are known to have prepared the idea to withdraw their supporters in the election for governor.
