Claims Of Less Jakarta Congestion, Deputy Governor Riza Patria: Sir Anies' Leadership Is Extraordinary

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that traffic jams have started to decrease significantly. He said this could happen because of the extraordinary leadership of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

"Jakarta now has a natural traffic jam unlike before. This shows the extraordinary effort in Sir Anies' leadership is extraordinary. That needs attention", he told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, April 2.

Due to Anies' work and efforts, Riza then called Jakarta, which was ranked the fourth most congested city in the world, to be 31st. "For these efforts we are grateful", he said.

Even if there are still traffic jams, this Gerindra Party politician said this was due to the excavation and it was only temporary. Moreover, currently, his party is focusing on lowering the cable hanging above and disturbing the view.

"We are targeting in Jakarta as soon as possible we lower the cables outside so that those above disturbing the view are lowered underground as the optimization is better, wider, more magnificent, cooler for everyone", he explained.

"This also shows our commitment to pedestrians. That's why the program is to expand, extend pedestrian sidewalks, then also cyclists", added Riza.

Previously reported, DKI Governor Anies Baswedan revealed that currently, Jakarta has managed to get out of the list of the top 10 most congested cities in the world. This predicate is issued by the TomTom Traffic Index.

Anies conveyed this statement in front of President Jokowi, Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani, Chairman of the DPD RI La Nyalla Mattaliti, ranks of ministers, Chair of the Press Council, Chair of the Indonesian Journalists Association at the National Press Day event.

"Let me take this opportunity to report that Jakarta in 2020 will be out of the list of the top 10 most congested cities in the world", Anies said in his speech at the National Press Day at the State Palace, Tuesday, February 9.

The former Minister of Education and Culture said that now is an opportunity for media crews to feel the atmosphere of the capital city which we are gradually improving.

"Usually we want to be on the top 10 list, but if in traffic jams we get out of the top 10. In 2017 Jakarta is number fouth in the world, 2018 is number seventh, 2019 is number 10, and thank God in 2020 we will rank 31st", Anies explained.
