JAKARTA - The government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital, is exploring concrete partnerships with India in the field of 5G and artificial intelligence (AI), as a concrete step to accelerate digital transformation.
In a meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, the Minister of Trade, Meutya Hafid, hoped that this cooperation could be realized soon.
"We hope that this cooperation can be realized immediately with concrete steps, either through a technical work group or the preparation of a joint statement that strengthens our commitment," Meutya said as quoted on Tuesday, April 29.
During the meeting, the Deputy Head of the Golkar Party also emphasized Indonesia's support for the development of AI technology that is inclusive, has the principle of diversity, and is not dominated by a handful of countries.
This meeting also followed up on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Indonesia and India in January 2025 concerning cooperation in artificial intelligence, the Internet for All (IoT), and the development of digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Chakravorty emphasized that India's private sector, such as the Tejas Networks, is ready to engage further in digital and telecommunication projects in Indonesia.
