Members Of The 2024-2029 DPR No Longer Get Office Houses To Be Replaced With Allowances

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Indra Iskandar announced that members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period no longer receive official housing facilities and are replaced with official housing allowances or office houses.

Indra said this was the result of the decision of the consultation meeting between the leadership of the DPR RI and the factions of political parties before the inauguration of new members. The official house that has been occupied by the representatives of the people will be returned to the state.

"We are currently preparing various documents to convey to the Ministry of Finance, as well as with the Ministry of State Secretariat, regarding the return of the country's assets," said Indra at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, October 4.

So far, the official house occupied by members of the DPR RI is no longer economical as a residence because most of the condition of the official house is severe and unfit to live in.

"His condition is already partially very severe, but there is also a member of the council who, indeed with his own budget, maintains so that there are also those whose condition is still quite good," he said.

In addition, his party has so far still identified the cost of renting a house around Senayan, Semanggi, even in the Jabodetabek area, to be able to determine the ideal allowance number for members of the DPR RI.

The housing facilities that will be indicators of the allowance include very decent housing and having three rooms.

According to Indra, the DPR secretariat will cooperate with the appraisal (assessment) to determine the value of the housing allowance.

"So that for members of the DPR starting the 2024 '2029 period, it has been decided to be given in the form of housing allowances, later the housing allowances will be included in the salary component," added Indra.

Previously, it had been circulating since Thursday (3/10) regarding the Secretariat General of the DPR RI Number B/733/RT.01/09/2024 regarding the re-submission of the member's office. The letter, which was signed on September 25, 2024, ordered elected DPR members or those who did not leave their respective official residences.
