Puan: DPR AKD Will Be Determined Before The Prabowo Government Cabinet Is Formed

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that the DPR's Council Apparatus (AKD) would be established before the new cabinet of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government was formed.

According to him, the AKD both commission and agency as much as possible adjusts the posts of ministries and institutions in the elected Presidential government, Prabowo Subianto later.

"We will discuss it as soon as possible according to the mechanism, after there is news on how the president plans to be elected in the future regarding the upcoming cabinet," said Puan, Thursday, October 3.

Puan also stated that the DPR will determine the AKD before the cabinet announcement in which the President-elect will be sworn in on October 20.

"God willing (AKD) will be announced and we will finish it before the upcoming cabinet is announced," said Puan.

Regarding the possibility that a commission will be merged to adjust to the number of ministries in the cabinet, Puan said it was still under discussion at the DPR.

Puan admitted that her party could not confirm whether there would be a new AKD formation following the possibility of additional ministerial posts in Prabowo's cabinet.

"We are all working on it and discussing it together. (Number of AKD) doesn't exist yet," said Puan.

Although the new AKD will be determined shortly before the new cabinet is formed on October 20, Puan ensures that the DPR, which is a member of the 2024-2029 period, has been inaugurated on Tuesday, October 1, yesterday, has still been working. Because apart from the formation of the AKD, said Puan, there are many things that must be resolved following the DPR's change of membership.

Among other things, conducting internal consolidation of factions in the DPR, including determining the faction leadership. With so many new members in the current DPR period, Puan assessed, the factions will also hold many meetings to provide socialization.

They have to understand more about what the DPR looks like, they also have to meet each other, there are many more meetings related to what the DPR is and so on. Then consolidate the factions. We will first determine the leadership of the factions," he explained.

"This is only a week before the determination of the commissions and the determination of the AKD-AKD," continued Puan.

Puan also ensured that members of the DPR for the 2024-2029 period would still have an office even though there was no determination of AKD.

"They will definitely come to the office to meet with the faction leaders who have been determined," concluded Bung Karno's grandson.
