Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Calls The US And Europe The Root Causes Of Regional Problems

JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei has held the United States and a number of European governments accountable for the clashes, wars, concerns and hostilities that have hit the region.

That was said by Khamanei when meeting with talented academic elites and scientists at Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah, Tehran, on Wednesday.

Khamanei started the meeting by talking about the death of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah who was killed in Beirut in an Israeli attack on September 27.

"We are grieving at this time. I, in particular, am very saddened. Losing Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah is not a small thing. Even though the atmosphere in this country is grieving, I choose not to postpone the meeting with these elites, which has been planned," he said, quoted from Tasnim, October 3.

Furthermore, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the reason for holding the elite meeting at the scheduled time, stating, "The message from this meeting is that even though we are grieving, this does not mean that we must only sit in a corner and consolidate in despair. On the other hand, our grief has the same properties as the grief of Imam Hussain (US). It revives, encourages, and inspires enthusiasm to work and progress."

"The root causes and problems of conflict and war in the region lie in the presence of certain United States and European countries that mistakenly advocate peace and calm. If they leave this region, conflict and war will end, which will allow these countries to manage their affairs and coexist in peace and prosperity," Khamenei explained.

He considered Saddam Hussein's push to attack Iran and the bitter and difficult days that followed as an example of the incitement of war between the United States and the West in the region.

Iran launched about 181 hypersonic missiles into Israel on Tuesday night, a move that it said was retaliation for the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah and senior IRGC general Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan.

The attack came after Israel announced the start of a ground attack on the same day on the southern Lebanese region.

Tehran said it had tried to refrain from attacking Israel after Haniyeh's assassination, hoping the ceasefire could be reached in the Gaza Strip.
