JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to inaugurate seven cross-border posts (PLBN) consisting of PLBN Napan, Serasan, Jagoi Babang, Long Nawang, Labang, Sei Mosquito Sebatik, and Yetetkun.
This inauguration took place at PLBN Napan, North Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Tuesday, October 1. This PLBN borders Oecusse, the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL).
The Minister of Home Affairs as the Head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) emphasized that President Jokowi's presence at the Napan PLBN further strengthens the vision and mission that the Indonesian government consistently pays serious attention to building Indonesia from the outskirts.
This is done by strengthening regions and villages in maintaining a unitary country.
"We are grateful to Mr. (President) for the presence and at the same time inaugurating seven cross-border posts, please give directions," Tito said in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 2, which was confiscated by Antara.
Tito added that the inauguration of seven PLBNs was in line with President Jokowi's directives through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 6 of 2015 concerning the Acceleration of Development of 7 Integrated PLBN Posts and Supporting Infrastructure Facilities in Border Areas.
In addition, it is also in line with Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of Development of 11 Integrated PLBN and Supporting Infrastructure Facilities in Border Areas.
"So far, 15 PLBNs have been realized," he said.
Of the 15 PLBNs, he said, eight of them are already operating. These numbers include PLBN Aruk in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan; PLBN Entikong in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan; and PLBN Badau in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan.
Next is PLBN Motaain in Belu Regency, NTT; PLBN Motamasin in Malacca Regency, NTT; PLBN Wini in North Central Timor Regency, NTT; PLBN Skouw in Jayapura City, Papua; and PLBN Sota in Merauke Regency, South Papua.
"God willing, today seven new PLBNs will be inaugurated by Mr (President), since October 21, 2022, BNPP has taken steps to operate the seven PLBNs," explained Tito.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi said that the border area is the face of the Indonesian state and is a representation of the progress of the nation.
Therefore, equitable development of PLBN is very important.
"The border also functions as a buffer zone for the defense of our country, Indonesia. The last one is also to develop new economic points at the border," added Jokowi.
Jokowi hopes that the existence of PLBN can improve services for Indonesian people who cross the border and improve the security of border areas.
This infrastructure, said the President, could encourage the growth of new economic centers at the border, thus making people in border areas more in love and proud of Indonesia.
"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, seven integrated state cross-border posts of PLBN Napan, Serasan, Jagoi Babang, Sei Mosquito, Labang, Long Nawang, and Yetetkun this afternoon I inaugurate it," said the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
