Soekarno's Grandson Calls To Replace Arteria Dahlan Because Of The PDIP DPP Decree

JAKARTA - DPR member Romy Soekarno, grandson of the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, said he served as a member of the council replacing Arteria Dahlan because it was based on the decision of the PDIP Central Leadership Council (DPP).

He said the PDIP DPP appreciated its performance in the electoral district. Legislators from the Electoral Region (Dapil) of East Java VI also thanked Arteria for appreciating his performance.

"Not given, but because I was struggling in the electoral district," said Romy as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 1.

Romy also ensured that there would be no intervention in changing positions to fill the legislator seat. Therefore, he wants to be able to become a representative of the people who fight for the nation and state based on the teachings of his grandfather, namely Soekarno.

As a member of the DPR, Romy admitted that he would fight for the farmers and fishermen in his electoral district. The East Java VI electoral districts include Blitar, Kediri, Tulungagung, Blitar City, and Kediri City.

The KPU on September 27, 2024 issued a Decree (SK) of the General Election Commission Number 1401 of 2024 concerning changes to the determination of candidates for the elected members of the DPR RI 2024-2029.

In a letter addressed to the East Java VI electoral district, the KPU appointed Romy Soekarno to be the elected member of the DPR RI. The PDIP member elected in the electoral district should be Sri Rahayu who is in second place.

But Sri Rahayu resigned siri and was replaced by Arteria Dahlan who was in third place. However, Arteria resigned and was replaced by Romy who has now been sworn in.

"Determining the change in the determination of candidates for elected members of the DPR in the 2024 General Election against the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle on behalf of Romy Soekarno of the East Java VI Electoral Region as stated in the attachment to the decision which is an inseparable part of this decision," reads the decision in the KPU Decree.
