JAKARTA - The presidential security force (Paspampres) admitted that the unit bus crashed into the pillars of the Transjakarta bus stop (TiJe) in Petamburan, Central Jakarta on Monday (30/9) at around 16.45 WIB because the vehicle brakes failed.

"It was true that last Monday at around 16.45 WIB there had been a single bus accident at the Petamburan bus stop in Jakarta. The bus hit the pillar of the busway bus stop," said Asintel Danpaspampres Colonel Kav Herman Taryaman in an official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

Based on the chronology, he continued, the bus driver actually took the initiative to put the vehicle into the Transjakarta route because the bus entered the road which slightly decreased with the condition of the vehicle brakes that failed.

After that, the bus became out of control so that it hit the pillars of the Transjakarta bus stop. Luckily, the accident did not result in any casualties. However, the bus vehicle was heavily damaged on the front.

"We are still grateful that in the accident incident above there were no casualties, only the bus vehicle suffered heavy damage to the front," said Herman.

At around 19.00 WIB, the bus had been evacuated and taken to the Paspampres Command Headquarters (Moko) on Jalan Tanah Abang 2, Central Jakarta.

Paspampres also apologized to the public for the accident causing traffic congestion.
