BOGOR - Chairman of the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) Heddy Lugito predicts that ethical complaints that enter his institution during the regional elections will be higher than the presidential and legislative elections. He has seen this phenomenon since taking office.

"Pilkada is only two months away, my estimate and based on past experience, complaints of ethical violations during the election are far more than the election," Heddy told reporters in Bogor, West Java, quoted on Saturday, September 28.

Heddy said the closeness between the organizers and the election participants is usually the cause. "Candidates for governors, regents, mayors must have been closely related to members and chairmanes of the KPU and Bawaslu," he said.

"They also have relatives at the sub-district, sub-district, and even KPPS levels, and that is what allows ethical violations, violations of election laws, even administrative violations to election criminal violations," continued Heddy.

Meanwhile, on a separate occasion, Heddy said that the DKPP would hold a coordination meeting (rakor) with the KPU and Bawaslu. A number of things will be discussed, including efforts to prevent ethical violations during the 2024 Pilkada.

The first coordination meeting, continued Heddy, will be held in Makassar, South Sulawesi around early October. However, the time has not been detailed.

After that, DKPP will also gather the KPU and Bawaslu in the West region. This coordination meeting will be held in Jakarta.

"So we will gather the Chairman of the KPU and the Chairman of Bawaslu districts, cities and provinces to really pay attention to ethical enforcement. Do not let ethical violations occur at the level, especially at the ad hoc level," he explained.

The ad hoc levels in question are starting from the polling group (KPPS), the voting committee (PPS), and the sub-district election committee (PPK). DKPP wants no ethical violations from the officers.

"Keluan selama ini terjadi pelanggaran etik berising dari tingkat penyelenggaraan ad hoc," ungkap Heddy.

"That's why we collect all of them, we agree, we do technical guidance so that even greater violations of ethics do not happen again. We hope that. So, we will hold a coordination meeting later," he concluded.
