PJ91 Pungut Sampah in Jamnas 2026, Minister of LH Says Part of Ecological Tobat

JAKARTA - More than 100 members of Purna Jamnas 1991 (PJ91) chose to reunite in a different way. They did plogging, walking while picking up garbage, at the 2026 National Jamboree (Jamnas) arena, Cibubur Camp, East Jakarta, Saturday, August 15.

The action was attended by PJ91 members from Aceh to Papua. In addition to enlivening the 2026 Jamnas, the activity was part of the 35-year reunion of participants in the 1991 National Jamboree.

Participants were divided into 10 teams. Each team carried two large plastic garbage bags and combed the Cibubur Camping Ground, including the backstage area and rows of District Headquarters stands.

The collected garbage was then taken to near the Kwarda Lampung booth to be weighed.

Chairman of the 1991 Purna Jamnas Teguh Santosa said the activity received appreciation from the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environment Control Agency (BPLH) Moh. Jumhur Hidayat.

According to Teguh, the plan for plogging has been conveyed to the majority. The Minister of LH was unable to attend the activity because he was in Riau.

"The Minister of LH thanks all of us who have taken action to fill our reunion. Plogging is part of ecological repentance that is being encouraged by the government and it requires the participation of the wider community," said Teguh at the reunion lunch at Lawang Yogya Restaurant, near Buperta Cibubur.

Plogging comes from the combination of the words jogging and plocka upp in Swedish, which means picking up. This activity combines physical activity with picking up garbage along the way.

Meanwhile, the term ecological repentance refers to a movement to stop damaging habits and encourage real actions to improve the environment. The movement was introduced by Jumhur, who has served as Minister of Environment/Head of BPLH since April 27, 2026.

Apart from waste issues, the reunion was also a meeting of the participants of the 1991 Jamnas after 35 years.

"Three and a half decades ago, our young feet once stepped on this campsite. In the name of a brotherhood that is timeless, I thank all the friends who are present to remember those times," said Teguh, who is also an Expert Minister for Environment in the field of Environmental Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.

He hopes that the slogan of the 1991 Jamnas, "United, Brothers, Independent", will be passed on to the next generation.
