Not In IKN, Legal Practitioners Remind The Ratification Of Prabowo's Inauguration As Head Of State

The validity of the inauguration of the head of state which will be held on October 20, 2024 is questioned. The reason is, there is no MPR/DPR building as an IKN-worthy place for the inauguration of the elected president and vice president for the period 2024-2029. If forced, it will certainly drain a lot of money.

Legal practitioner from the Indonesian democracy defense team (TPDI) Petrus Selentinus said it was very likely that the inauguration of the head of state would still be held at the Senayan parliament complex.

"It is very likely that the inauguration will continue and be held at the MPR/DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta. However, whether or not the inauguration is valid or not will be debated again. Why, because IKN has been enacted by law and ratified as the State Capital, but the inauguration of the head of state is not carried out there. Meanwhile, we know that the nation's capital is part of the symbol of the state," said the legal practitioner of the Indonesian democracy defense team (TPDI) Petrus Selentinus, to VOI in a public discussion on a public discussion entitled "Can the AGO maintain its performance to eradicate corruption in the era of President Prabowo Subianto?" in Jakarta, Friday, September 27.

Petrus added that this issue should not be taken lightly, because it is very possible that the public will question the validity of the inauguration of the elected president Prabowo Subianto.

"The public is very likely to question why Prabowo Subianto wants to be inaugurated in Jakarta, which is currently not the capital city of the State of Indonesia and is upheld by a law enacted by the DPR RI," said Petrus Selentinus.

Although at this time Jokowi did not want to sign the president's decision regarding the relocation of the capital city, Petrus emphasized that IKN had been strengthened and ratified as the capital city. He also added that this issue would be a major drama after the inauguration of the head of state.

"There is no Presidential Decree yet, but IKN has been ratified by Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (UU IKN) which was ratified by the DPR on February 15, 2022. This means that as of February 15, 2024, Jakarta is no longer the State Capital. And the law is stronger than the Presidential Decree," said Petrus Selentinus.
