Highlighting Apartments Built In Water Infiltration Areas, Pramono: It's A New Problem, Must Be Overcome

JAKARTA - Candidate for Governor of Jakarta number 3 Pramono Anung highlighted the construction of apartments in Jakarta that were established on land that functioned as rainwater absorption.

According to Pramono, the construction of apartments that closed water catchment areas is one of the causes of flooding. If he becomes the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono admits that he will solve the problem.

"New areas that are crowded and then there are infiltration areas used to build apartments or other public facilities, these are new problems and they must be resolved," said Pramono at his residence, Kemang, South Jakarta, Friday, September 27.

In flood prevention, Pramono assessed the need for synergy between local governments and the central government.

This has been done by the operation of the Sukamahi and Ciawi reservoirs by the central government which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in December 2022. Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government activated pumps that drain the water flow in the river so as not to overflow into settlements when the rain arrives.

Pramono assessed that flood prevention efforts did not stop there. "Both in Ancol, at Marina, at Sentiong, it must also be prepared. And the sheet and drain that must be resolved now is almost finished," said Pramono.

"I'm sure now that even though it's the rainy season, especially in some areas that used to be subscribed, it will definitely start to decrease," he continued.

Separately, candidate for Deputy Governor number 3 Rano Karno assessed that he and Pramono had mapped flood-prone points in Jakarta. This is necessary to develop flood management in an area.

On the one hand, Rano also highlighted the construction of toll roads that do not pay attention to aspects of drainage or water channels. According to him, this condition could also be the cause of Jakarta's flooding.

"Now, sorry, maybe the construction of the toll road also has an impact. Maybe, in quotes, drainage forgot to be raised. This is an example of a big toll road but the crossing road is only 3 meters, that's an example that we have to think about. That's the task of the local government. The main toll road is the central government," explained Rano.
